Chinese FM Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir, Discusses Pak-China Ties

Beijing: The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on the important meeting held between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The statement emphasized that the Pakistan Army is a pillar of national stability and a strong guardian of Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Pakistan’s military has always strongly supported the implementation of the important consensus reached between the leadership of both countries. He stressed that promoting strong Pakistan-China relations is beneficial for regional peace and stability.

Wang Yi highlighted that despite the tests of time, Pakistan-China relations have grown even stronger, with both countries establishing a firm foundation of traditional friendship.

He added that China will continue to work with Pakistan to safeguard its territorial integrity and national security and welcomed Pakistan’s significant role in international affairs.

During the meeting, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir described China as Pakistan’s “iron friend” and reaffirmed that the Pakistan Army is ready to enhance counter-terrorism and security cooperation with China. He assured that efforts will continue to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and projects in Pakistan.

Field Marshal Munir further stated that steps would be taken to strengthen Pakistan-China friendship and to continue the shared journey of development and progress.
