Pakistan Railways to Launch New Train Service Between Islamabad and Rawalpindi
Pakistan Railways has announced the launch of a new train service between Islamabad and Rawalpindi to facilitate daily commuters. The decision was finalized during a meeting held at Railways Headquarters in Lahore, chaired by Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also in attendance.
During the meeting, officials gave a detailed briefing on railway security, particularly in Balochistan. They discussed measures to safeguard railway tracks and passenger trains. The session also approved a joint campaign against illegal encroachments on railway land. For this initiative, the National Constabulary and Railways Police will collaborate, while the Frontier Constabulary will extend full support.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that “security of railway lines and passenger safety is the top priority of the government,” adding that “no compromise will be made on these matters.” He also appreciated Pakistan Railways for taking effective steps to improve services.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi thanked the Interior Minister for his support, particularly in the anti-encroachment efforts. The meeting was attended by Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch, IG Railways Police Rai Tahir, and other senior officials.
