Ravi River latest flood update – 27 August 2025

27 August, 2025 14:47

Authorities have declared a flood emergency in several regions along the Ravi River as water levels continue to rise at a dangerous pace.

According to the latest update issued at 1:29 am, the water flow at Jassar point has crossed 200,000 cusecs, which is considered an unusually high flood level. At Kot Naina, the flow has gone even higher, exceeding 250,000 cusecs.

The Shahdara area has been placed on high alert, with warnings that the water discharge could soon exceed the design capacity of 275,000 cusecs at Jassar within the next few hours. Since the flow from Kot Naina takes around 12 hours to reach Jassar, officials are urging people to take precautionary measures without delay.

Key Areas Facing Flood Threat

Low-lying areas, especially Shahdara, Park View, and neighborhoods near Motorway M-2, face a serious risk of flooding as water levels rise further.

In response to the situation, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is monitoring the evacuation of residents from these vulnerable areas.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the NDMA is working closely with both civil and military agencies to ensure smooth rescue and relief operations.

Residents are being strongly advised to follow evacuation orders issued by the local administration to stay safe.
