Strong Tremors Shake Peshawar, Swat, Other KP Areas
Peshawar: Tremors of an earthquake were felt in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday, creating panic among residents.
According to initial reports, the earthquake was felt in Peshawar, Swat, Buner, Swabi, Chitral, and surrounding areas. People rushed out of their homes, shops, and offices in fear as the tremors shook buildings.
The National Seismic Monitoring Centre confirmed the earthquake but further details regarding the magnitude, depth, and epicenter are still awaited.
So far, there have been no reports of casualties or major damage. However, rescue and emergency services have been put on alert across the affected districts.
Pakistan is located in a seismically active region, where earthquakes are frequent due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Northern and western parts of the country, including KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan, are especially vulnerable to tremors.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain calm, follow safety guidelines during aftershocks, and immediately report any damage to local disaster management units.
