EOBI Pensioners to Enjoy Higher Pension from September 1

In a welcome development for Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) pensioners, the government has announced that the pension increase from January 2025 will be paid along with the August pension on September 1st.

According to EOBI sources, the basic pension, which was raised by Rs 1,500, will be disbursed to all pensioners along with all outstanding arrears in the September payment.

The federal cabinet had approved a 15 percent hike in EOBI pensions, raising the amount from Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,500 per month effective January 1, 2025. The move aims to provide financial relief to retired senior citizens who rely on these pensions.

Addressing the cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the performance of ministries will be evaluated every two months through key performance indicators. Ministries showing strong performance will be commended, while shortcomings will be addressed through corrective or disciplinary measures.

Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), noting that its high performance reflects positive business sentiment in the country.
