Punjab Education Dept Denies Viral Notification on School Holidays

School students in Pakistan to get 2 holidays this week – check details
The Punjab Education Department has clarified that no decision has been taken to keep schools closed until September 5 amid the current flood situation in the province.
Secretary of School Education Punjab, Khalid Nazir Wattoo, issued the clarification after a fake notification circulated on social media, falsely claiming that all schools in Punjab would remain closed until September 5.
He categorically denied the viral notice, confirming that it was not issued by the department. “The school education department has not released any new orders regarding additional holidays,” said the Secretary.
Wattoo stressed that the notification was fake and urged the public to rely only on official and authentic sources for updates. He added that no decision has yet been taken about any extension in school closures. If such a decision is made, it will be formally communicated through the department’s official Facebook page or other reliable channels.
The Secretary appealed to parents, students, and teachers to refrain from spreading unverified news. “Please avoid trusting or sharing unauthenticated notifications,” he said, calling on the public to help curb misinformation.
