Lahore – August 29, 2025: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the closure of multiple service centres after heavy rains and floods damaged several districts of Punjab.

According to NADRA’s official statement, the step has been taken for the safety of citizens and staff. Routine services have been badly affected as floodwater entered many towns and villages.

Centres Closed Due to Floods

The centres closed include Hafizabad, Jhang, Layyah, Sargodha, Gujrat, Sialkot, and Depalpur. Some specific branches are also not working. These are:

  • Wanike Tarar

  • Jalalpur Bhattian

  • 18 Hazari

  • Ahmad Nagar

  • Kot Momin

  • Kari Sharif

  • Kotli Loharan

  • Saidpur

  • Depalpur

NADRA has requested citizens from these regions to visit the nearest working centres for urgent ID card or documentation needs. Authorities assured that operations will start again once conditions improve.

Flood Situation in Punjab

Floods have spread after heavy rainfall and the release of water from India. Rivers Ravi, Chenab, and Sutlej have overflowed, causing water to submerge villages and farmland. According to reports, at least 20 people have died, while crops and livestock have been destroyed.

In Jhang, a deliberate breach near Rawaz Bridge was made to save the city from rising water of Chenab. Relief Commissioner Punjab, Nabeel Javed, confirmed that people living near riverbanks have been evacuated. The administrations of Jhang and Faisalabad remain on high alert with officers on the ground.

In Lahore, water from the Ravi River entered suburban areas. Residents of Theme Park, Mohlanwal, Mureedwal, Farukhabad, Shafiqabad, Afghan Colony, New Metro City, and Chuhng were safely shifted. Rescue teams are also active in Talat Park and Babu Sabu, where flood relief is ongoing.

Four blocks of Park View Housing Society were also flooded, but residents were rescued in time. Officials continue to monitor the situation and carry out rescue operations.
