Authorities decide to Open Tarbela Spillways After Heavy Rains

ISLAMABAD – Authorities have decided to open the spillways of Tarbela Dam following heavy rains in the upper areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to dam officials, water discharge is expected to rise up to 250,000 cusecs once the spillways are opened. The step has been taken to protect the dam’s structure and regulate water flow.

Administration has issued a public advisory, urging citizens to stay away from riverbanks, bridges, and low-lying areas due to the increased risk of flooding.

Local residents have been warned that water levels in the river will rise sharply once the spillways are opened, making it essential to maintain distance and follow safety precautions to avoid accidents.
