Massive flood surge expected in Multan by evening, over 300,000 displaced
A major flood surge is expected to hit Multan by this evening, forcing the relocation of more than 300,000 people from the city and surrounding areas.
According to reports, a dangerous rise in the Chenab River is likely to reach Multan today. To protect urban areas, officials have decided to breach the river at Head Muhammad Wala.
Evacuation and Complaints
As people move to safer places, many have complained about a shortage of boats and poor arrangements for shifting their livestock.
Other Affected Areas
In Jalalpur Pirwala, about 50,000 cusecs of water is flowing through the Sutlej River, affecting 140 villages.
In Rajanpur, families from low-lying areas have already shifted due to the risk of high flooding.
In Bahawalpur, relocation is also underway along the banks of the Sutlej River.
In Faisalabad (Tehsil Tandlianwala), authorities have declared a high alert, and residents of low-lying areas are moving to safe places.
Relief Operations
Rescue teams, along with Pakistan Army, Rangers, and local volunteers, are actively engaged in relief and rescue operations across the flood-hit regions of Punjab.
