PM Shehbaz Sharif Departs for China to Attend SCO Summit and Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif left for Tianjin, China, on Saturday on an official visit at the invitation of President Xi Jinping to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Adviser on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.
During the visit, PM Shehbaz will participate in the 25th SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Tianjin. He will also attend the 80th anniversary commemorations of the victory over Fascism in World War II, scheduled in Beijing.
In addition, the Prime Minister will hold bilateral meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Discussions will cover political, economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Shehbaz Sharif is also set to meet leading Chinese entrepreneurs and corporate leaders to boost economic and trade ties. He is expected to address a Pakistan-China Business-to-Business Investment Conference in Beijing to explore fresh avenues of collaboration.
In a message shared on his official X account, the Prime Minister said he looks forward to meeting President Xi Jinping and other world leaders. He stressed that the visit is aimed at further strengthening Pakistan’s “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” with China and enhancing regional cooperation, multilateralism, peace, and prosperity.
