Flood Alert as NDMA Predicts Heavy Rains in Punjab

31 August, 2025 22:52

ISLAMABAD – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a rain and flood alert for Islamabad and several districts of Punjab from September 1 to 3.

According to the NDMA, heavy downpours may worsen the flood situation in already affected areas. Northeastern, central, and southern parts of Punjab are likely to be impacted.

Districts at risk include Murree, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat. Chiniot, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad may also face severe flooding. Heavy rains are further expected in Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur.

The NDMA warned that rising water flow at Marala Headworks could submerge nearby areas. Residents of low-lying regions and those living close to streams and nullahs have been advised to remain alert.

Authorities and citizens have been urged to take precautionary measures to minimize risks.
