Sindh Health Department Orders Anti-Mosquito Spray Campaign to Prevent Dengue

31 August, 2025 18:25

KARACHI – With rising concerns over the possible spread of dengue and malaria, the Sindh Health Department has directed all district health officers to immediately launch mosquito-killing spray campaigns across the province.

According to an official notification, the Director General (DG) of Vector Borne Diseases, Sindh, has issued letters to every district health officer, making it mandatory to ensure timely anti-mosquito fumigation. The move aims to minimize the risk of dengue and malaria outbreaks, which usually surge during the monsoon season due to stagnant water and unhygienic conditions.

The notification further instructs all districts to designate focal persons who will monitor the spray campaign, ensure proper execution, and submit progress reports to the department. This step is intended to improve coordination and accountability at the local level.

Health officials have emphasized that preventive measures are critical, as dengue and malaria can spread rapidly if mosquito populations are not controlled. Public awareness campaigns are also expected to accompany the fumigation drive, encouraging citizens to maintain cleanliness, cover water storage containers, and avoid stagnant water around homes and neighborhoods.

The Sindh Health Department has urged all districts to begin operations without delay to protect communities from these potentially life-threatening diseases.
