PPP Shigar Sues PML-N’s Tahir Shigri Over Defamation

01 September, 2025 22:52

SHIGAR – The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Gilgit-Baltistan has filed a defamation case against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Tahir Shigri for accusing PPP leader and Red Crescent Chairman Imran Nadeem of receiving funding from India’s intelligence agency, RAW.

The case was submitted by the Peoples Lawyer Forum (PLF) in the Shigar Sessions Court, demanding Rs. 100 million in damages. The court has admitted the case for hearing, with the first appearance scheduled for September 10.

The controversy began when Tahir Shigri, during a press conference, alleged that Imran Nadeem was taking financial support from RAW. Following the accusation, Imran Nadeem’s lawyer sent a legal notice to Shigri, but no reply was received. This led the PLF to formally approach the court.

Basharat Ghazi Advocate, General Secretary of the PLF, is leading the case. After filing the petition, PPP leaders, including Education Minister Ghulam Shehzad Agha and Syed Haider Shah Rizvi, held a press conference at the Shigar Secretariat to condemn the allegations and show support for Imran Nadeem.
