Flour Price in Peshawar See Sharp Rise: 80-Kg Bag Now Costs Rs. 10,000

02 September, 2025 14:33

In Peshawar, the provincial capital, the price of flour has risen significantly.

Shopkeepers report that due to a halt in supply from Punjab, the price of an 80-kilogram bag of flour has escalated to as much as 10,000 rupees.

Vegetable prices have also climbed sharply in Peshawar, with tomatoes now costing up to 250 rupees per kilogram.

Meanwhile, flooding in Kasur and other districts of Punjab has led to a severe shortage of vegetables, pushing prices to alarming levels. Tomatoes have become scarce across several cities, with prices surpassing 250 rupees per kilogram in some areas.

The steep rise in vegetable prices is causing considerable hardship for consumers. Potatoes, which were selling at 30 rupees per kilogram just a few days ago, are now priced between 80 and 100 rupees per kilogram.

Similarly, tomatoes, previously priced at 60 rupees per kilogram, have surged to between 220 and 250 rupees per kilogram, with some markets reporting prices even higher than 250 rupees.

Okra prices have quadrupled, rising from 50 rupees per kilogram to 200 rupees. Eggplants have also seen a sharp increase, with prices climbing from 60 to 180 rupees per kilogram.
