Punjab Announces Public Holiday on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal to Mark Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)

02 September, 2025 15:50

The Punjab government has declared a public holiday across the province on Saturday, 12th Rabi-ul-Awal, in observance of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

According to the official notification, all government offices will remain closed on the day. However, the civil secretariat, which already observes Saturday as a routine holiday, will remain closed as usual.

In the health sector, hospitals will provide emergency services only, while administrative offices and outpatient departments (OPDs) will remain shut for the day.

The holiday is part of annual celebrations, with religious and cultural events expected across Punjab to mark the occasion.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced that the Rabi-ul-Awal moon was not sighted, confirming Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on September 6.

With this announcement, citizens of Punjab will enjoy a two-day weekend break on Saturday and Sunday.
