PMD Forecasts Heavy Rain Across Pakistan, Karachi to See Intermittent Showers
Karachi and Surrounding Areas Receive Showers, Schools Announce Holiday Today
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rainfall from September 6 to 9, 2025, with Karachi and several other regions expected to receive showers during this period. According to the Pakistan weather update, a low-pressure system over Madhya Pradesh, India, is likely to move towards Sindh by September 6, triggering heavy monsoon activity across the country.
In Sindh, apart from Karachi, rainfall is expected in Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, and Khairpur, along with Shaheed Benazirabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Jamshoro, Dadu, Kashmore, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, and Ghotki.
Punjab is also set to experience showers between September 6 and 8 in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Vehari, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Northern Punjab and adjoining areas including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Wazirabad are also in the forecast.
From September 7 to 9, parts of Balochistan including Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Zhob, Naseerabad, Bolan, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran, Pasni, Ormara, and Gwadar are likely to receive rain.
Azad Kashmir regions such as Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur may also be affected between September 6 and 8.
The PMD emphasized that due to this system, widespread precipitation is expected in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, and Azad Kashmir, urging citizens to stay updated through official weather advisories.
