Pakistan is commemorating Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH), the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), today (Saturday), the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awal 1447 AH, with deep love and reverence.

The day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. Special prayers were offered for peace, prosperity, and the progress of the nation. Across the country, Milad processions, seminars, conferences, and Mahafil-e-Milad are being organised, while streets, mosques, and homes are adorned with lights and decorations. Citizens are also distributing food and sweets in a spirit of devotion.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, urged the nation to draw inspiration from the golden teachings of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH). He said the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) nearly 1500 years ago “illuminated the world, transforming darkness into light and setting new paths of justice, mercy, equality, and unity for all of humanity.” He highlighted that this year marks the 1500th birth anniversary of the Prophet (PBUH), being observed as the Year of Rahmatul-lil-Alameen in line with parliamentary resolutions.

“The life of the Prophet (PBUH) is a complete and comprehensive model for all aspects of life governance, justice, economics, trade, and social values,” the Prime Minister stated. He stressed the importance of educating youth about the Prophet’s teachings in today’s fast-changing world. Concluding, he prayed: “May Allah always keep Pakistan safe, grant us unity and harmony, and bless us with the ability to live our lives in obedience and love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Ameen. Pakistan Zindabad.”

President Asif Ali Zardari also extended greetings to the nation and Muslim Ummah, urging people to shape their lives according to the Prophet’s teachings. “On this blessed day of 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, I extend my greetings to the entire nation and the Muslim Ummah. This historic and memorable occasion is a source of joy and devotion,” he said.

He added that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life embodies universal principles of justice, mercy, brotherhood, and peace. Stressing the relevance of these teachings in today’s world, he remarked, “The life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) teaches us that justice, fairness, compassion, kindness, brotherhood, equality, and respect for humanity are the foundations of a pious society.”

The president urged citizens to make the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings a guiding light for creating a society rooted in equality, compassion, and peace.
