PM Shehbaz arrives in Doha to support Qatar after Israeli attack

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Doha on Thursday to show support for Qatar after Israel carried out an airstrike targeting Hamas officials in the Qatari capital. He was welcomed at Doha Airport by Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

Shehbaz Sharif called on Muslim countries to unite against Israel’s provocative actions. He made the remarks in Doha, where he met Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to show solidarity after Israel bombed the Qatari capital in violation of international law.

“The Israeli attack is a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty,” Shehbaz said, adding that both the people and government of Pakistan stood firmly with Qatar.

On Tuesday, Israel launched airstrikes on Doha targeting Hamas leaders. The attack triggered global condemnation and is now seen as a serious threat to regional peace.

Qatar has announced an extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit on September 15 to discuss the situation.

During their meeting, Shehbaz Sharif and the Qatari Emir agreed to work closely for regional peace, respect for international law, and support for the Palestinian cause.

Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani told CNN on Wednesday that Qatar was discussing a joint response with regional partners. At the same time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of more strikes, accusing Qatar of sheltering Hamas and rejecting moves toward a two-state solution.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Pakistan, Algeria, and Somalia have requested an emergency UN Security Council meeting to take up Israel’s unprovoked attack on Doha.
