Where to submit application for free solar panels – check updates

12 September, 2025 14:01

The Sindh government has announced new support measures for farmers by expanding the Benazir Hari Card program and providing solar panels to registered haris (tenant farmers).

Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Bux Mahar said that registration for 80,000 more haris has been completed, and 50,000 Hari Cards will be distributed by the end of September 2025.

Through the Hari Card, farmers will be able to get subsidies and financial help. Under this scheme, farmers will pay only 20% of the cost, while the government will cover the remaining 80%. Along with financial assistance, eligible farmers will also receive solar panels.

Farmers interested in free solar systems have been asked to submit their applications at the office of the Director General Agriculture in Hyderabad by September 20.

Meanwhile, Punjab is also running a Free Solar Panel Scheme under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. This program is aimed at helping low-income households cut electricity costs and switch to renewable energy.

Families using up to 200 units of electricity per month can apply for the scheme, which is also part of the government’s efforts to promote clean energy and reduce carbon emissions.
