Mr Sharif paid tribute to the brave soldiers who lost their lives in recent operations, saying their sacrifices will help restore peace across the country. He added that the armed forces’ efforts will continue until all forms of terrorism are eliminated.
The prime minister said operations against the militants of “Fitna al-Khawarij” will go on without pause and that anyone involved in facilitating proxy groups will be dealt with firmly. He warned that those supporting or defending foreign-backed proxies will face a strong response.
Mr Sharif stressed the need for unity and said the nation stands with the security forces. He reiterated that Pakistan will take all necessary administrative and legal measures to strengthen counter-terrorism action.
On relations with Afghanistan, the prime minister said Islamabad has made its position clear and expects action against militants operating from across the border.
