GB Man Shot Dead by Father-in-Law in Karachi After Love Marriage

KARACHI – A young man from Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan, was allegedly killed by his father-in-law in Karachi after marrying against the family’s wishes, according to police and relatives.

The victim, Wazir Irteza Ali, son of Wazir Sikandar Ali, hailed from Nogam village, Gultar, in District Astore. Reports said his father-in-law opened fire on him, shooting eight bullets in front of family members. Irteza died on the spot.

Irteza had married a woman from a Pashtun family a year earlier through a court marriage. The couple later shifted to Gilgit. Four months ago, the bride’s family had reconciled with the groom’s relatives in the presence of local scholars, signaling an end to tensions.

Recently, the couple traveled to Karachi to meet the in-laws. On the night before Irteza’s scheduled departure to Lahore for work, he was called to the house, where his father-in-law allegedly shot him dead.

The body was transported to Gilgit, and funeral prayers will be held in Danyore. Police are investigating the case.
