Maryam Nawaz Brings Electric Buses, Promises of Change to Sargodha
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited Sargodha and launched the city’s first electric bus service — a long-awaited step towards modern public transport in the region. Addressing a public event, she congratulated the people of Sargodha and said these buses were not just vehicles, but a promise of progress and dignity.
“Sargodha needed this service. Our people were forced to ride on broken buses, often sitting on rooftops. Women felt unsafe and uncomfortable. This had to change,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz announced that 60 electric buses would be dedicated to Sargodha, and a total of 105 buses would be distributed across Bhakkar, Mianwali, and Khushab as well. She recalled how development once seemed impossible here, saying, “Before the motorway, Sargodha’s growth was only a dream. Connecting this city opened the doors to opportunity.”
She also highlighted major steps in health care, especially for heart patients. “We’re setting up the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha. Patients won’t have to travel to Lahore or Faisalabad anymore. We’re sending the best doctors to your city,” she promised.
Touching on the recent devastating floods, Maryam said, “It was the biggest flood in Punjab’s history. We acted fast — rescued people day and night. We moved 2.5 million people to safety. If we hadn’t been alert, the loss would’ve been unimaginable.”
She added that those who lost homes or animals will receive compensation, including Rs. 5 lakh for homes and large livestock, and Rs. 50,000 for small animals.
Maryam Nawaz also didn’t hold back from criticizing past leadership. “During the last government, every day brought bad news. Incompetent leaders pushed Pakistan backwards. Now, with this government, people are hearing good news again,” she said.
Praising Pakistan’s armed forces, she mentioned how under the leadership of General Asim Munir, Pakistan responded strongly to Indian aggression. “The enemy will never forget that defeat,” she said proudly.
Ending on a hopeful note, she said: “We are done watching development begin and end in big cities. Now, it will start in towns like Sargodha and spread across the country. This is just the beginning.”
