Consumers new gas connections can be apply for through website and mobile app

The federal government has decided to make it easier for people to get new gas connections. Now, consumers will be able to apply online through the official websites and mobile applications of the Sui companies, along with the usual method of applying at local offices.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik. The meeting was held to review the roll-out plan for providing RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) connections to domestic users across the country.

Officials from the Petroleum Division, OGRA, and the managing directors of SNGPL and SSGCL also attended.

During the meeting, both Sui companies shared their strategy for implementing the plan. They assured that a target would be set to provide a large number of RLNG connections within the first year.

Ali Pervaiz Malik directed the companies to create a consumer-friendly system to make the process transparent and easy for the public.

He said, “This step is being taken to fulfil the long-standing demand of the public for the provision of new domestic gas connections.” He also explained that RLNG is not only energy efficient but also around 30% cheaper than LPG and safer for households.

To manage the project properly, the minister ordered the creation of a Project Management Office (PMO) at both SNGPL and SSGCL. These offices will monitor the entire process, from applications to connections, and address complaints quickly.

In addition, applicants who have already paid a demand note will now be able to submit the difference in cost along with the security fee to qualify for an RLNG connection under this new scheme.

This initiative is being seen as an important step by the government to provide affordable and safe energy to the people of Pakistan.
