IAEA Chief Praises Pakistan’s Nuclear Power Program for Steady Progress
Vienna: Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, has praised Pakistan’s nuclear power program, calling it a key example of peaceful nuclear development.
Speaking at the 69th IAEA General Conference in Vienna, DG Grossi met with Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, and appreciated Pakistan’s steady progress in using nuclear science and technology for peaceful purposes.
He highlighted that Pakistan is an important partner in the global effort to promote peaceful nuclear applications, and said the country’s nuclear power program is “moving forward at a good pace.”
Grossi specifically pointed out the Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-5 (C-5) as a major milestone in Pakistan’s civilian nuclear energy development.
During the meeting, Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar reaffirmed that all of Pakistan’s nuclear power plants operate successfully under the highest international safety standards.
He added that Pakistan’s nuclear energy goals are fully aligned with the IAEA’s vision and global efforts for peaceful nuclear cooperation and sustainable development.
“Pakistan remains committed to using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and contributing to clean, reliable energy solutions,” he said.
The recognition from the IAEA chief marks a significant endorsement of Pakistan’s growing role in civilian nuclear technology and its responsible approach to energy development.
