RDA announces progress on Rawalpindi Ring Road Project
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has announced that over 70 percent of work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) is finished. The project is being called a major step toward improving mobility and boosting economic activity in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The Ring Road plan includes:
Logistics and education centers
A health city and dry port
Business hubs and industrial zones
Transport terminals and wholesale markets
Recreational parks and housing communities
Benefits of the Project
At a recent meeting on Ring Road Economic Zones, RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza said the project will:
Reduce traffic congestion in the twin cities
Improve the environment
Boost the economy and create jobs
Provide better civic facilities
She also noted that construction is moving forward at a fast pace.
Expert Opinions
Dr. Shahid Mahmood, Senior Adviser to the OIC, said the project was long overdue and will act as a catalyst for growth, especially in Rawalpindi’s southwestern areas. He stressed the importance of modern urban planning and green building standards to avoid future encroachments.
Former ambassador Naghmana Hashmi said the road will improve trade links and transport efficiency.
Senior RDA officials also attended the meeting, where they expressed confidence in the project’s role in reshaping the region’s economy and development.
