UAE Bans Visit and Work Visas for 9 Countries
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reportedly widened its list of countries facing restrictions on visit and work visas, according to multiple reports on Monday.
The Gulf nation, long considered a top tourist hub and investment-friendly destination, is said to have halted visa applications from citizens of nine countries across Africa and Asia.
Reports claim that nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, Lebanon, Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, and Libya are included in the updated list. Authorities have suspended the processing of new visa requests from applicants belonging to these countries.
While the UAE government has not issued an official explanation, media outlets have suggested that the restrictions stem from “security concerns.”
The development comes as the UAE continues to attract millions of expatriates from around the world. Known for its strong economy, cultural diversity, and inclusive environment, the country is currently home to more than 200 nationalities. According to research, expatriates make up nearly 90% of the UAE’s population, highlighting its role as one of the most diverse nations globally.
Despite the visa ban update, the UAE remains a leading destination for professionals, investors, and tourists seeking opportunities in the Middle East.
