Pakistan Calls for Immediate Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza at OIC
Pakistan has once again voiced strong support for the Palestinian people, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza, and urging the international community to act without delay.
Speaking at a session of the OIC Committee of Six on Palestine on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said Pakistan stands in “unwavering solidarity” with the people of Palestine.
He said Pakistan would actively promote peace in the Middle East as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025–2026.
Dar condemned the Israeli military offensive that began in October 2023, stating it has killed more than 63,000 Palestinians and injured over 94,000, most of them women and children.
“Israeli forces are systematically targeting homes, hospitals, schools, aid convoys, and shelters — all in violation of international law,” Dar said.
He warned that settler violence and military raids in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are increasing under what he called an extremist Israeli leadership that is “determined to bury the two-state solution.”
“This is a defining moment for the Middle East and the Muslim world,” he added.
Dar urged the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to push for the following key actions:
Immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire
Safe and open humanitarian aid corridors
Full support for UNRWA, the UN agency helping Palestinian refugees
End to forced displacement and illegal settlements
Return of land and property seized since 1967
Right of return for Palestinian refugees
Accountability for war crimes and compensation for destruction
Respect for all rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ)
Reconstruction of Gaza led by Arab and Islamic nations
Deployment of international protection forces for Palestinian civilians
Recognition of an independent State of Palestine based on 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Sharif) as its capital and full UN membership
Dar emphasized that the momentum created by recent international efforts must continue to achieve lasting peace through the two-state solution.
