Sindh Excise Department Urges Vehicle Owners to Replace Old Number Plates
The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department has issued a reminder for vehicle owners across the province, directing them to switch from outdated number plates to the newly introduced “future-designed” plates without delay.
In a notification, the department highlighted the importance of compliance and cautioned that “failure to comply with the directive could lead to strict legal action against the vehicle owners.” The advisory applies to all categories, including motorcycles, cars, and both private and commercial vehicles.
Owners still using yellow-colored or older versions of number plates have been instructed to replace them with the newly designed plates by next month. Those who have yet to collect their new plates from designated centers have also been advised to do so promptly.
Officials warned that non-compliance would result in heavy fines under existing traffic regulations.
The Sindh government had earlier announced its decision to replace number plates across the province, directing all vehicle owners to make the switch within a set timeframe. Despite this, authorities noted that a considerable number of vehicles are still operating with outdated plates, prompting the latest reminder.
