Punjab Government Approves First Anti-Drone Unit
The Punjab government has approved the creation of the province’s first anti-drone unit, allocating Rs3 billion for the project.
This new unit will use advanced technology to detect and stop unauthorized drones. It will include radar systems, signal jamming, directed-energy weapons, and rapid mobile response teams.
Six radar stations will watch the airspace for drones flying at low to medium altitudes. Jamming systems will block drone signals to force them to land or stop working. Directed-energy devices will target dangerous drones, while mobile teams will quickly respond to threats and protect sensitive locations and public events.
Officials say this multi-layered system will improve security and provide fast, effective action against illegal or dangerous drones.
