29 September, 2025 15:41

Faisalabad: Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, inaugurated the Green Electric Bus Service in Faisalabad, introducing 150 eco-friendly buses for the division.

Speaking at the ceremony, Maryam Nawaz announced that travel on these air-conditioned buses will be free for senior citizens, women, students, and people with disabilities. Each bus is equipped with Wi-Fi and mobile charging ports for passengers’ convenience.

In addition to Faisalabad, electric buses will also be provided to Jhang and Chiniot in the coming days.

Maryam Nawaz described the project as a gift for the people of Faisalabad and emphasized that any citizen can travel on these buses for just 20 rupees. She stated that development will now start from small cities and move towards larger ones.

Responding to criticism from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Maryam Nawaz said:

“Criticize me, that’s fine. But if you target the people of Punjab, I will respond. Punjab can make its own decisions and doesn’t need advice from others.”

Maryam Nawaz also remarked that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is not the only solution to public issues and announced that modern cancer treatment machines will also be provided to hospitals in Faisalabad.
