Punjab School Timings Update for October 2025

29 September, 2025 14:13

As winter approaches and temperatures begin to fall, the Punjab government is considering revising school timings to ease the challenges faced by students and teachers during early morning hours. Traditionally, the provincial administration adjusts school schedules from mid-October through February or March to shield children from the harsh effects of cold weather during their commute.

Currently, schools across Punjab start classes at 7:30 am, with dismissal times varying according to grade level; younger students in Nursery and Prep typically finish earlier than those in higher grades.

The anticipated schedule change will likely delay school start times, helping students avoid exposure to chilly early mornings. An official announcement regarding the revised timetable is expected soon, with the changes expected to take effect from October 15. Schools may open at 8:00 am or 8:30 am, with staggered closing times, though the Punjab government will confirm the final decision.

Meanwhile, weather experts have issued warnings about the possibility of one of the coldest winters in recent years due to the return of La Niña, a climatic pattern known to cause significant temperature drops. If forecasts hold true, several regions worldwide, including Punjab, could experience severe cold spells and heavy snowfall.

“Coldest Winters” could impact daily routines, making the timely revision of school hours a necessary measure to safeguard students’ well-being.
