SC Permits Justice Tariq Jahangiri to Resume Work
The Supreme Court (SC) has suspended the Islamabad High Court’s order that stopped Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri from performing his duties, allowing him to resume work. This was announced following a hearing on his appeal, as reported by national media on Monday.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court also issued notices to all parties involved in the case, including the Attorney General. Justice Jamal Mandokhail stated that the case currently before the court is limited to the interim order issued by the Islamabad High Court. Meanwhile, the Supreme Judicial Council has scheduled a meeting for October 18 to further review the matter.
Previously, the University of Karachi canceled Justice Jahangiri’s law degree (LLB) and imposed a three-year ban on him for allegedly using unfair means during his studies. The university’s statement confirmed that Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri’s exam results and degree have been revoked.
