ATM Cards introduced for Punjab flood victims [Cash Distribution Update]

02 October, 2025 15:04

The Punjab government has decided to give cash help to flood victims through special ATM cards instead of using the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

According to reports, these debit cards will be distributed among families after a survey in flood-affected areas. The government has promised to provide financial support to people who lost their homes and belongings in the recent floods.

Verification Process

The ATM cards will only be issued after proper verification by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), Punjab Land and Revenue Authority (PLRA), and the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

Cash Withdrawal

Once verified, the cash will be transferred to the cards, and victims can withdraw the money from any ATM. However, the government has not yet announced the exact amount that will be given to each family.

Political Reactions

Meanwhile, Prime Minister’s Adviser and Senator Rana Sanaullah raised objections over the accuracy of BISP data. He also responded to statements made by PPP leaders regarding Punjab’s water allocation.

Sanaullah clarified that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz only talked about her province’s share of water and did not comment on other provinces. He stressed that as long as Punjab manages its own share, there should be no objections.
