PM Welcomes Hamas Response to Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, Says Ceasefire Near
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed Hamas’ positive response to US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, expressing hope that a ceasefire is now close.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said, “Alhamdulillah, we are close to a ceasefire in Palestine.” He added that Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and will continue to support them.
PM Shehbaz thanked President Trump and brotherly nations for their efforts towards peace. He praised the role of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Türkiye, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia in pushing for a resolution to the conflict.
He stated that Hamas’ response has opened a new path for peace and that Pakistan will work with all friendly nations to ensure a permanent ceasefire and lasting peace in the region.
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump presented a 20-point plan to end the Gaza conflict, giving Hamas a deadline until Sunday to respond. In response, Hamas accepted several key points of the proposal.
Following Hamas’ reply, Israel reportedly decided to step back from its full occupation plans in Gaza, and efforts to secure a ceasefire and hostage release have since intensified.
