Pakistan Seeks Repatriation of Ex‑Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Held in Israel
Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan is using diplomatic channels to secure the release and safe return of former senator Mushtaq Ahmad, who is currently in Israeli custody following his participation in the Samud flotilla, confirmed the Foreign Office.
According to official statements, efforts are being led through the Pakistani Embassy in Oman in coordination with international partners. With the cooperation of the Jordanian government, authorities hope the matter will be resolved in the coming days.
The Foreign Office expressed gratitude to Jordan for its “exemplary cooperation and support.” The ministry assured the public that Senator Mushtaq Ahmad is “safe and sound” while in custody and will be produced before a local court under Israeli legal procedures. Once an official deportation order is issued, repatriation will begin immediately.
In a broader statement, Pakistan labeled the detentions of nationals during the Samud flotilla mission as “illegal” and reiterated that it is working for the “safe and immediate return” of all its citizens involved. The Foreign Office said it obtained key information about the detainees, including Senator Ahmad, through diplomatic sources in a European country.
Pakistan has already secured the safe return of several citizens and thanked the “brotherly countries” that aided in those efforts. The Foreign Office also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad.
