Pakistan Wants Stronger Ties with Malaysia for Shared Growth: PM Shehbaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is visiting Malaysia, where he held a joint press conference with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia that have existed since 1957 and emphasized the need to increase cooperation across all sectors. The two leaders discussed regional and international issues, including the situation in Gaza and terrorism. Anwar Ibrahim expressed hope for peace in the region, stressing the importance of peace between Pakistan and India and their joint efforts to fight terrorism.

Shehbaz Sharif called Malaysia “our second home” and praised Anwar Ibrahim as a remarkable leader. He said the discussions between the two countries were very positive and focused on enhancing bilateral relations and global issues. Sharif appreciated Anwar Ibrahim’s Urdu language skills and mentioned that he has started learning the Malaysian language. He acknowledged Anwar Ibrahim’s important role in Malaysia’s development and highlighted the strong ties between the two nations.

Both leaders agreed to promote trade and investment, welcoming Pakistan’s export of halal meat worth 200 million dollars to Malaysia, with plans to further increase halal trade. Sharif noted that many Pakistani students are studying in Malaysia, strengthening people-to-people ties. He praised Anwar Ibrahim’s book, saying it will help build a bridge between Islamabad and Kuala Lumpur. The Prime Minister also recited poetry by Allama Iqbal at Anwar Ibrahim’s request, symbolizing the deep cultural connection between the two countries.

This visit reflects the strong friendship and growing cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia, with both leaders eager to work together on joint projects and regional peace.
