Israeli Forces Releases Senator Mushtaq Ahmed, Confirms Ishaq Dar

Former Pakistani Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has been released by Israeli authorities, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed on Monday. The senator is now safely at the Pakistani Embassy in Jordan.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ishaq Dar announced that Mushtaq Ahmed had been released and had reached the Pakistani mission in Amman, Jordan, in good health and high spirits.

Mushtaq Ahmed, a senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami, was part of the “Global Freedom Flotilla”, a humanitarian mission aiming to deliver aid to Gaza. He was reportedly detained by Israeli forces, along with other activists, as the flotilla attempted to reach the blockaded region.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar further stated that the embassy is in contact with Mushtaq Ahmed and will provide full assistance for his safe and smooth return to Pakistan, in accordance with his preferences.

The minister also thanked friendly countries for their support and cooperation in securing the senator’s release, as well as the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani diplomatic mission in Jordan.

Mushtaq Ahmed’s safe release has been welcomed by political circles, human rights groups, and the general public, who had been demanding his immediate freedom and safe return.

In a recent video statement, former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed shared harrowing details about his detention in Israel. He revealed that he was held for six days in a notorious Israeli prison, where he faced severe mistreatment. During his captivity, Mushtaq Ahmed said he was subjected to harsh physical abuse, with handcuffs on his hands and chains on his feet.

He also disclosed that he went on a three-day hunger strike demanding his basic rights and humane treatment. Despite his protests, he was denied access to drinking water and necessary medications.

Mushtaq Ahmed remained firm in his commitment to breaking the blockade on Gaza, vowing that he and others would continue to return repeatedly to support the cause. His resilience and dedication have drawn widespread attention and sympathy from supporters in Pakistan and around the world.
