LDA plans new expressway from Arfa Karim Tower to Raiwind Road
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has announced plans to build a new expressway connecting Arfa Karim Tower to Pine Avenue on Raiwind Road. The project’s PC-1 has already been prepared and submitted for approval.
According to LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, the estimated cost of the project is over Rs9 billion. He said the new expressway will be eco-friendly and help reduce traffic congestion by providing an alternative route for daily commuters.
The project is expected to ease the traffic load on Kalma Chowk by allowing thousands of vehicles to move directly from Arfa Karim Tower toward southern Lahore. In the first phase, construction will start from Arfa Karim Tower and extend up to Maulana Shaukat Ali Road.
Officials confirmed that the topographic survey for the entire route up to Pine Avenue has already been completed. The expressway will include a three-lane dual carriageway and is considered a major development for the city.
The finalized plan will soon be sent to the Planning and Development Department for formal approval.
