Pakistan Not in Arms Race with India, Says DG ISPR

07 October, 2025 11:25

Pakistan’s military spokesperson, DG ISPR, has said in an interview with international news outlet Bloomberg that Pakistan is not part of any arms race with India.

He stated that Pakistan’s military development strategy has always focused on effective platforms and the inclusion of indigenous Pakistani technology. At the same time, Pakistan remains open to acquiring technology from both Eastern and Western sources, including locally developed systems.

In the interview, DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan has never manipulated or hidden any data or facts regarding its defense matters. Addressing recent events, he confirmed that during the conflict known as the “Battle of Haq,” no Pakistani aircraft was shot down by India. This claim was further supported by a statement from U.S. President Donald Trump, who confirmed last week that seven Indian fighter jets were downed during the battle.

Bloomberg reported that during the same conflict, Pakistan’s Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets played a key role and were responsible for shooting down multiple Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets. DG ISPR also praised the performance of Chinese weapons systems used by the Pakistani military in that operation.

In August, Pakistan announced that it would induct the Chinese Z-10ME attack helicopter into its armed forces, further strengthening its aerial capabilities. According to Bloomberg, Pakistan continues to use a mix of Chinese weapons and American-made F-16 fighter jets, highlighting its balanced defense procurement strategy.
