Government Announces Public Holiday on October 20
The Sindh government has declared October 20 as a public holiday across the province in connection with the Hindu community’s festival of Diwali.
A notification issued by the provincial government states that the holiday has been announced to mark the Hindu community’s religious celebration.
As per the notification, all government offices throughout the province will remain closed on Monday, October 20.
Diwali is celebrated with joy and affection by followers of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism around the world. It holds significant religious importance for the Hindu community.
The festival, also known as the “Festival of Lights,” represents the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. The main celebration takes place on the night of the new moon (Amavas).
