Gaza Peace Deal: 20 Israeli Hostages for 2,000 Palestinian Prisoners
Gaza:Â A major prisoner exchange is set to take place today as part of a Gaza peace deal, with 20 Israeli hostages being released in exchange for around 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, according to Arab media reports.
Red Cross vehicles have reportedly arrived in the Deir al-Balah area of Gaza to facilitate the swap between Hamas and Israel. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) will oversee the exchange process.
Foreign news agencies say that Palestinian prisoners have already boarded buses from Israeli jails, while the Israeli military has confirmed that Red Cross vehicles are en route to the release location of the Israeli hostages. Once freed, the hostages will be handed over to the Red Cross.
Hamas’s armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, has released a list of 20 living Israeli hostages set for release. Preparations for their freedom are reportedly complete in Khan Younis, with large crowds gathering near the area.
Meanwhile, a formal signing ceremony for the Gaza peace agreement is scheduled to take place today in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. U.S. President Donald Trump and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are expected to attend the event.
This significant deal marks a potential breakthrough in efforts to de-escalate the long-standing conflict in Gaza.
