Fuel Price Cut Expected in Pakistan This Week
Islamabad: The prices of petroleum products in Pakistan are expected to decrease from October 16, according to official working obtained by GTV News from oil marketing companies.
As per the documents, petrol could become cheaper by Rs6.10 per litre for the next two weeks. A reduction of 97 paisa per litre is also being proposed for high-speed diesel.
In addition, kerosene oil may see a price cut of Rs2.75 per litre, while light diesel might be reduced by Rs1.64 per litre.
Sources say that OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) will send its official recommendations to the federal government by tomorrow. The final decision will be made by the Prime Minister, and the announcement is expected on October 16.
Despite the expected relief, sources revealed that the government is still collecting over Rs100 in taxes per litre of petrol, including various levies and duties.
