Pakistan is set to experience major internet disruptions today due to scheduled maintenance on international submarine cables. The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) confirmed that repair work will begin at 11:00 AM and may continue for up to 18 hours, affecting users nationwide.

According to PTCL’s statement, the International Cable Consortium has planned technical repairs on the undersea fiber optic cable. Engineers will work on the repeater system and perform detailed inspections, which may result in slow internet speed or partial outages throughout the country.

The disruption is not limited to any single city or region. Since these cables connect Pakistan to global internet routes, all major areas—urban and rural—may face connectivity issues.

Major service providers such as PTCL, Ufone 4G, and Nayatel have also alerted customers about this maintenance activity. Users are advised to plan their online work, meetings, and downloads ahead of time to avoid inconvenience.

PTCL has apologized for the temporary issue and assured that services will restore as soon as repairs are completed.
