The Sindh government has announced public holidays on October 20 and 21 for Hindu employees in connection with the Diwali festival.
According to an official notification issued by the Department of Services, General Administration and Coordination, these holidays will be observed in all government, semi-government offices, local councils, and educational institutions across the province.
This decision allows Hindu staff working in schools, colleges, universities, and other public sectors to celebrate Diwali with their families and participate in religious rituals.
The government stated that the move aims to promote religious harmony and cultural respect. However, departments have been directed to ensure that essential public services continue without interruption during the holiday period.
Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most significant festivals for the Hindu community, symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.
