SJC Reviews 74 Complaints, Approves Amendment to Judges’ Code of Conduct
Islamabad: The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has released a statement following its latest meeting, confirming that it reviewed a total of 74 complaints against judges during two separate sessions.
According to the official communiqué, the Council examined 67 complaints in the first phase. Of these, 65 complaints were dismissed, while one case was postponed and another sent for further proceedings.
In the second phase, the Council reviewed seven additional complaints. For these cases, the Council was reconstituted, as Justice Sarfraz Dogar recused himself from the proceedings. Justice S.M. Atiq, Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, was included as a new member.
Out of the seven complaints reviewed in the second phase, five were dismissed, while two were approved for further action.
In total, across both phases, 74 complaints were reviewed by the Council.
The statement also confirmed that the SJC has approved amendments to the Judges’ Code of Conduct, marking a significant update to judicial accountability procedures.
