Pakistan Rejects ICC's Accusation of Afghan Cricketers' Death Due to Shelling by Pakistani Forces
Pakistan has swiftly rejected the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) accusation that some Afghan cricketers were killed due to shelling by Pakistani forces during the recent military confrontation between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
In a post on social media, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar dismissed the accusation, saying the ICC had pointed fingers at Pakistan without any confirmation.
Expressing concern over the statement made by ICC Chairman Jay Shah, the minister urged him to immediately withdraw it. He said the ICC’s claims had raised serious questions about the council’s impartiality.
Tarar further stated that the remarks made by the ICC, Jay Shah, and the Afghan Cricket Board appeared to be part of a well-planned conspiracy.
He called on the ICC to avoid making such controversial statements and to restore its neutrality, emphasizing that sports and politics should remain separate.
The minister also cautioned the ICC against playing into the hands of any country.
