Pakistani Students Can Now Study Free at University of Tokyo

Japan has introduced a fully funded scholarship program at the University of Tokyo, specifically aimed at Pakistani students, under the Asian Development Bank (ADB)–Japan Scholarship Program 2026. This initiative is designed to attract talented young professionals from developing countries to pursue master’s degrees at one of the world’s leading academic institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship targets professionals with practical work experience rather than fresh graduates. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, be under 35 years old, and have a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience. A crucial requirement is that recipients must return to their home country for at least two years after completing their studies to apply their knowledge locally.

Application Process

Prospective candidates are required to secure a potential supervisor from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences at the University of Tokyo, which offers programs in sustainability, environmental studies, and international development. Applications, along with the necessary documentation, must be submitted online by December 10, 2025. Recommendation letters should be sent directly by referees.

Selection and Timeline

The selection process will commence in early 2026, with final results anticipated in May. Successful candidates will begin their studies in October 2026.
