Aleema Khan Faces Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants Over Repeated Court Absences
Rawalpindi: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, sister of founder PTI, due to her repeated absence from court hearings.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah presided over the hearing related to the cases filed against 11 accused, including Aleema Khan, in connection with the protest that took place on 26 November.
While 10 of the accused appeared before the court, Aleema Khan was absent once again. Five prosecution witnesses also appeared with relevant case material.
The court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema for the third time and also issued similar warrants for her surety provider, Umar Sharif, due to his failure to ensure her appearance.
The judge ordered the police to arrest and present Aleema before the court on 22 October.
Additionally, the court directed the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rawalpindi to verify the property documents of Aleema Khan’s guarantor.
This development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings against leaders and participants of past protests, as authorities continue their crackdown on political unrest.
