PM Shehbaz Sharif to visit Saudi Arabia for three days next week
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to visit Saudi Arabia next week on a three-day official trip, accompanied by senior civil and military leaders.
According to media reports, the prime minister will lead a high-level delegation that includes political leaders, military officials, and federal ministers. During his visit, he is expected to meet top Saudi officials and address the Future Investment Initiative conference.
This will be Shehbaz Sharif’s second visit to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks. Earlier, on September 17, he made an unofficial visit to Riyadh, where he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed a “bilateral strategic defense agreement.”
Under this pact, an attack on either Pakistan or Saudi Arabia would be treated as an attack on both, marking a major step in defense cooperation between the two nations.
Observers say this agreement reflects a shared concern over regional security, especially in light of Israel’s actions against Qatar and broader tensions in the Middle East.
The defense deal also comes amid strained relations between Pakistan and India, as well as the Iran-Israel conflict, which recently saw a 12-day war between the two countries.
The upcoming visit is expected to strengthen Pakistan-Saudi relations and further enhance bilateral cooperation in defense, trade, and investment.
