Punjab Government Launches Major Anti-Smog Operations Across Province
Lahore: The Punjab government has launched large-scale measures to combat smog in Lahore and other high-risk cities across the province.
According to officials, anti-smog operations began last night in areas including Thokar Niaz Baig and other major hotspots of Lahore.
The cities of Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rahim Yar Khan have been identified as being at risk of high air pollution.
To reduce pollution levels, the government will carry out water spraying and use anti-smog guns in affected urban areas.
Government bodies like WASA, LDA, and local district administrations have been instructed to prevent crop burning and improve cleanliness efforts.
The Punjab government has also made it mandatory to cover construction sites and goods transport vehicles to limit dust and emissions.
The Environmental Protection Department has warned of possible air pollution during early morning and night hours in Lahore.
Senior Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has urged the public and relevant departments to strictly follow environmental SOPs.
“Every citizen has an important role to play in the fight against smog,” she stated, calling for public cooperation in tackling the crisis.
